Residents of the NSW town of Moree will get the chance next week to attend a free event aimed at helping them sort out their Wills.
The event, scheduled for Thursday May 30 at the Moree Courthouse, is one of the many Will Days put on by NSW Trustee & Guardian (TAG) in towns and suburbs across the state each year.
Another will be held on the 30th in Narrabri, and there will also be Will Days held in Tamworth and Taree tomorrow (May 23), and in Gunnedah on May 25 and May 28.
Those who attend these events will be able to benefit from the help of expert TAG staff in updating their Will, or making one if they haven’t already managed to do so.
And what’s more, the service will be provided free of charge.
The events may attract the interest of many local residents; a June 2012 Newspoll survey found that 43 per cent of adults in NSW didn’t have a Will.
Brett Bennie, NSW TAG branch manager at Armidale, told the Moree Champion that the event would provide an excellent opportunity for those who haven’t yet turned their thoughts to what would happen to their estate and assets when they pass away.
“Having your Will written by an independent and impartial expert can help avoid confusion and conflict among loved ones regarding your wishes and can also help future-proof your family and friends from potentially stressful and costly legal disputes,” Mr Bennie said in an article published yesterday (May 21).
The events are also a good time for residents to think about updating their Wills so that they are an accurate representation of their present thinking on the matter.
“During the Wills Day, our experienced staff will be available to prepare a legally valid Will which reflects your current circumstances,” Mr Bennie stated.
Those hoping to attend the Will Days need to book in advance. This way they can be sure to bring what they need at their assigned appointment time.
